Highlights of the 2009 Show!


The hugely popular Art Materials-Live show had all the very latest art supplies & innovations, plus an exciting programme of entertaining and informative theatre demonstrations, hands-on workshops and talks on a whole range of methods, materials & techniques - suitable for all level of abilities. Visitors found so much to interest them at this dynamic show including:

Workshops
Well-known presenters including Tim Fisher, Derek Daniells, Steve Hall, Judi Whitton, and James Willis inspired painters of all levels.
Leisure Painter & The Artist Magazine
Fiona Peart was demonstrating on the magazine stand every day of the show, focusing on various subject matter and using products sponsored by Daler-Rowney. Media included watercolour, pastel, gouache, acrylics and acrylic inks.




Other Demonstrating Artists were
Terry Harrison, Glyn Macey, Keith Fenwick, Bob Elcock, Linda Wain, Charles Evans, Ann Mortimer and Ronald Swannick.

Ann Mortimer was signing and selling copies of her new book Flowers in the Landscape a new title from Search Press in their popular and respected 'Watercolour Tips and Techniques' series

Try New Artists' Acrylic Colours For FREE
Visitors to the Winsor & Newton stand had the opportunity to try their materials for free, including the new Artists' Acrylic Colours, which have no colour shift from wet to dry! A unique clear resin means that colours in this range are brighter than ever giving even cleaner colour mixes. Also available to try were their Artists' Water colours, Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colours and respective mediums and Winsor & Newton's Painting & Technical Advisor Paul Robinson was on hand to answer visitors' questions!




Layers, Layers, Layers!
Artist Linda Hollingshead was demonstrating Liquitex Acrylic Ink and Soft Body Acrylic with fabulous results. Liquitex Professional Acrylic ink is a new range of 30 extremely fluid acrylics that use super fine pigments suspended in a state-of-the-art acrylic emulsion. They dry quickly, are permanent, water resistant and non-clogging, which makes them ideal for a variety of techniques from watercolor effects to stamping.

Bee Morrison offered show visitors the chance to win a fabulous 4 nights painting weekend in La Clusaz in the French Alps, close to Geneva! La Clusaz is a fantastic ski location set in the Aravis Mountain range with amazing views all around.




Simply the Best Painting Competition
30 finalists from the 'Simply the Best' painting competition, sponsored by the Leisure Painter & The Artist magazines were exhibited at the show where visitors voted for a 'People's Winner'. The Winner was Bobby by Paul Cawser who will have his work featured in the Leisure Painter magazine in 2010.




FREE workshops!
Marabu organised FREE hourly workshops (normal price £25) on their stand each day on Glass Painting Silk Painting / Textile Painting / Ceramic Painting

Ronald Swanwick was demonstrating each day on the Marking World Stand where there was a Daily Prize Draw to win a 48 piece Watercolour Pencil Set.

Jakar International Limited
Artist Brenda Chappell was on the Jakar International stand giving daily Caran d'Ache demonstrations using artist quality coloured pencils and wax pastels.
Charles Evans & Glyn Macey Demonstrations
Winsor & Newton Artists Charles Evans and Glyn Macey were demonstrating each day of the show on all the benefits of using Winsor & Newton Artists' Water Colours & our Artists' Acrylic Colours.



SAA
Geoff Kersey and Jeremy Ford were demonstrating every day in the SAA Demonstration Area. These fun and informative sessions provided endless snippets of tips, techniques and ideas for visitors to take away. Longridge Lines also ran some popular demonstrations, alongside some mini workshops run by Geoff and Jeremy.
Art Guilds & Societies
The United Kingdom Coloured Pencil Society, Guild of Silk Painters and British Association of Decorative Folk Arts were all at the show again this year and were very happy to pass on top tips, advice and encouragement.
